History of Crystal Healing
Crystal Healing is an ancient system which treats patients holistically through the precise placement of crystals on the body and surrounding environment. Unlike modern healthcare, crystal therapy addresses the patient as a whole paying as much attention to a persons spiritual and emotional well-being as well as their physical health. There is little scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of crystal healing on a medical level, however crystals have been used and enjoyed for thousands of years, many find peace, relaxation and harmony in crystal healing. Crystal healing provides an non-invasive, relaxing, natural and enjoyable therapy.
The first recorded crystal, the zircon crystal was formed 4.4 million years ago when most of the planet was thought to be molten lava. It is found in northwestern Australia.
The first crystals known to be used by man was flint which was as tools and weapons. Later, Obsidean was used by the Mayans again as tools, weapons but also create scrying mirrors. 30,000-year-old Amber amulets have been found, those found in Britain date to around 10,000 years ago. Crystal healing is thought to date back to the Egyptians, as early as 2000 BC, Lapis Lazuli in particular was a known favorite thought provide protection, topazwas used for purging evil spirits. Ancient China held quartz and jade in high regard, with India using crystals in conjunction with astrology from around 400 BC. There are several references to crystals in biblical accounts, being used in the breastplate of the first high priest as well as in the Koran.Crystal amulets were frequently used in the medieval period as forms of protection; the largest revival of crystal healing has been since the 1960s.
Crystals vibrate energy, crystal therapy is based on the premise that crystals can, in a sense, communicate with the energies flowing around the body. These electromagnetic charges can be used to interact with the body to remove blockages and restore a healthy flow through the body and mind. An example of this is quartz, which is used in wristwatches; it is capable of generating an electrical charge when under stress, and this is referred to as being piezoelectric.
When we are born we have the potential required to achieve everything we desire, experiences provide negative situations resulting in imperfections, clear quartz which vibrates on the pitch of perfection calls upon this state of perfection – the “law of harmony”, by wearing quartz on the spiritual plexus we join in this state of perfection, amplifying and manifesting our original selves.
The Aura
The aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body (Human Energy Field-HEF) and every organism and object in the Universe.
It is a collection of electro - magnetic energies of varying densities that permeate through and emit or exit from the physical body of a living person. These particles of energy are suspended around the healthy human body in an oval shaped field, which emits out from the body approximately 2-3 feet on all sides. It extends above the head and below the feet into the ground.
The aura has seven layers, which are interrelated, and affect a person's feelings, emotions, thinking, behavior, and health as well. An imbalance of one has a knock on effect to another.
Layers:
1. Physical: physical sensations, comfort, pleasure, and health.
2) The etheric: emotions with respect to self. Self-acceptance and self-love.
3) Vital: rational mind, understanding situation in a clear, linear, rational way.
4) Astral (emotional): relations with others, loving interaction with friends and family.
5) Lower mental: divine will within, aligns with the divine will within, to make commitment to speak and follow the truth.
6) Higher mental: divine love and spiritual ecstasy.
7) Spiritual (intuitive): Divine mind, serenity, understanding the greater universal pattern.
The Chakra System
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel” or “disc” and are the entry gates of the aura. Chakras can be visualized as flowers or an individual vortex. The chakras act as transducers for life force energy connecting the subtle body, distributing life force energy in the physical and subtle bodies, providing the source of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy.
There are 88,000 chakras in the body, many are small and insignificant, and 40 of them are significant, however most work with the seven major chakras. The chakras are aligned along the centre of the body, from the spines base to the top of the head. They are found in the ethereal body and contain the spiritual energy on the physical plane.
The chakras absorb and transmit energy to and from the universe, nature, people and even things. When chakras are not balanced, wide open or are blocked the flow of energy is restricted and this can lead to physical, emotional, mental or spiritual di-ease rather than free-flowing optimum health. They influence our body shape, glandular processes, physical elements, thoughts and behavior. The chakras are expressed on the physical body by endocrine glands. Chakras rotate, either clockwise (male/Yang) or anti-clockwise (female/Ying).
The chakras are associated with specific colours, which determine aspects of our emotion and behavior. Crystals, essential oils, sound healing and herbs can have a great healing effect on the chakras.
Chakras can be accessed through meditation, guided visualization, crystals and gemstones, aromatherapy and pendulums (dowsing).
